Site Prep

Whether you're in the early planning stages and considering how your site might influence your design choices, or you're ready to prepare for installation, our site prep guide covers all essential requirements to ensure a smooth setup. On delivery day, our team will arrive to unload and position your sauna in the designated, prepped location. Once installed, your sauna can be operational the same day, pending final wiring by your electrician.

While we do not currently offer site prep services, this guide provides you and your contractor with everything needed to complete the process with confidence.

1. Hiring a Contractor

Once you place your order, it's essential to find a local contractor to help prep your property. This guide provides all the necessary information to ensure your site is ready.

We recommend hiring a professional to avoid mistakes. However, if you have the right knowledge and equipment, you may choose to handle the site preparation yourself.

2. Select the Best Location

Our saunas are designed with large glass windows to maximize your views and provide a deep connection to nature. When choosing the perfect site, consider the following:

  • Scenic Views & Privacy – Position your sauna to capture the best views while maintaining privacy from neighboring homes.

  • Accessibility & Pathways – Consider the most natural entrance, factoring in paths to your home, existing or future landscaping, and ease of access.

  • Proximity to Home – A closer location may be preferable in cold weather and for easier electrical and WiFi access.

  • Sun Exposure & Weather – Do you want to use the sauna at sunrise or sunset? You may want to face the porch towards the sun and avoid the wind if possible.

By taking these factors into account, you can select a location that enhances both function and aesthetics.

3. Choosing a Recommended Site Design

Each sauna model requires a properly prepared foundation:

  • 5-Person Sauna – Minimum site footprint: 12' x 8.5'

  • 4-Person Sauna – Minimum site footprint: 10' x 7.5'

  • 3-Person Sauna — Minimum site footprint: 9’ x 7.5’

Foundation Options:

1. Stone Foundation (Most Cost-Effective)

  • Excavate the footprint 4”-6” deep and install weed barrier to improve stability, drainage, and prevent weed growth.

  • Use 4"-6" of ¾" clean stone, leveled and compacted.

2. Stone Foundation with Concrete Supports

  • Add 8" diameter, frost-depth concrete Sonotubes for extra support.

  • Ensure the stone foundation is level with the tops of the Sonotubes.

  • 3. Concrete Pad Foundation

  • Pour a 3"-4" thick concrete slab matching the sauna's footprint for a solid, permanent base.

Each option offers durability and stability; the best choice depends on your budget and long-term maintenance preferences.

4. Electrical and WiFi

Our saunas arrive pre-wired for easy connection, but a licensed electrician or contractor will need to provide the appropriate power supply.

Power Requirements:

  • 5-Person Sauna: 240V, 8/3 gauge wire, 60 Amp breaker

  • 4-Person Sauna: 240V, 8/3 gauge wire, 40 Amp breaker

  • 3-Person Sauna: 240V, 10/3 gauge wire, 30 Amp breaker

After placement, your electrician will complete the final wiring step before your sauna is ready for use.

WiFi Considerations for Smart Controls:

  • If using the HUUM UKU WiFi Controller for remote start via the HUUM app, ensure your sauna is within range of your home’s WiFi.

  • If your chosen site is out of range, consider installing an outdoor WiFi extender or a dedicated hotspot for connectivity.

5. Challenging Installations

Our saunas are designed for breathtaking locations, but some sites may require additional planning:

  • Steep hills, narrow pathways, or dense trees may limit access.

  • Close proximity to water could present additional installation challenges.

  • Crane delivery may be necessary if a 10' wide by 13' high clearance is not available for our delivery.

If your site presents logistical challenges, we can deliver your sauna and coordinate with a crane service to complete the installation. Contact us to discuss any concerns in advance.

6. What If My Site Isn’t Ready?

If your site isn’t fully prepared upon delivery, we will assist in unloading your sauna at an alternative location on your property. However, our team will not be able to move the sauna again once delivered.

To avoid delays and additional effort, we strongly recommend ensuring your site is fully prepared before your scheduled delivery date.
